Getting Published

Copper Canyon Press has terminated its annual Hayden Carruth Award while we engage other options for considering the work of new and emerging poets. We are not currently accepting unsolicited first-book submissions, but we strongly encourage poets with first-book manuscripts to consider submitting to The American Poetry Review/Honickman First Book Award. This contest is administered by The American Poetry Review and co-published with Copper Canyon Press. More information on The American Poetry Review/Honickman First Book Award can be found here.

We will not review queries that do not follow Query Guidelines.

Each year, Copper Canyon Press receives thousands of queries from poets, many of whom ask for guidance on how to get published. A select few ask, "How can I become a better poet?" In Advice to Poets we offer links to articles that help answer these questions.
