Thank you for your generous contribution!

Beginning June 2020, the Press is dedicating 100% of Read Generously proceeds to racial equity initiatives. As our first step—with the help of readers like you—we raised nearly $6,000 for the national organization Black Lives Matter, in affirmation of Black lives and in condemnation of the murder of Black Americans at the hands of police. All Read Generously funds contributed through August 31st were directly donated to Black Lives Matter.

This fall, we are shifting the focus of our Read Generously program to support racial justice initiatives at Copper Canyon Press and in the field of publishing. We are developing a program that directly addresses racial inequities in publishing, specifically as it manifests at Copper Canyon, and we seek to build a foundation from which we can model the proactive, intentional, and long-overdue work of dismantling white supremacy in our field and within our own house. We will share more about this process, and our resulting commitments, in the coming months.

We hope you will consider, as you are able, giving directly to organizations—especially Black, Indigenous, and People of Color-led efforts—working for accountability and justice, as well as literary and arts organizations who lift up the vital work of Black writers. We have listed some here.

Thank you.
