DESCRIPTION:Poets on the Coast present The Surrealist’s Toolkit: Generating New Poems from the Subconscious World\, May 1 10 AM – 2:30 PST\, with Kelli Russell Agodon & Susan Rich \nFrom the organizers: \n What do Sylvia Plath’s braid\, an hourglass museum\, and a lampshade of silvering hair have in common? They represent the New Surrealism. Together\, we will generate a collage of poems using surrealist prompts from 20th-century surrealists as well as our own. We’ll also look at the wild surrealist women artists: Leonora Carrington\, Leonor Fini\, and Remedios Varo. Whether you know anything about the new surrealism or not\, you will leave this class with 4-7 new poem starts and new pathways into writing a poem.
