DESCRIPTION:From the organizers: \nExperience the newest poetry collections from Sophie Cabot Black and Marie Howe through poems that capture visions of the pastoral and glimpses of the quotidian. In Cabot Black’s Geometry of the Restless Herd (Copper Canyon\, 2024)\, poems about sheep herding examine the connection between people\, land\, animals\, and power. Howe’s New and Selected Poems (W.W. Norton\, 2024)\, collates poems from her four previous collections\, creating a sweeping and intimate portrait of her body of work. DESCRIPTION:From the organizers: \nPoetry Reading – Friday night\, October 18\, at 7:30 PM (EDT): Each of our guest poets Peter Balakian\, Sophie Cabot Black\, and Maya C. Popa present a public reading in the auditorium of the Sharon Springs Central School. Afterward\, you’ll be able to meet the poets in the lobby\, purchase a copy of one of their books — which they will gladly sign — and meet your fellow poetry lovers. \nPoetry Workshops – Saturday\, October 19: Peter Balakian\, Sophie Cabot Black\, Maya C. Popa \, and Festival founder Paul Muldoon will each conduct an in-person poetry workshop for adult members of the community.
