Copper Canyon Press has a very tight focus: Publish extraordinary poetry books.

We do this with the support of tens of thousands of poetry readers and some very special organizations. Below are some of the key partners who help make Copper Canyon’s mission possible.

Bookstores with Great Poetry Sections like Open Books: A Poem Emporium; City Lights; Elliott Bay Book Company; Powell’s; and Prairie Lights—shining examples of retailers who support poetry in brick-and-mortar ways. Please shop there. And any other store that has a poetry section.

Academy of American Poets was founded in 1934 to support American poets at all stages of their careers and to foster the appreciation of contemporary poetry.

The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation works with nonprofit organizations that are presenting the highest quality of contemporary artistic programming and demonstrating clear purpose, excellent management and involvement in the greater community. They moved our press towards greater self-sufficiency through a major grant to our e-book program.

Amazon Literary Partnership Poetry Fund provides direct support to our authors, as a founding contributor to our Poets’ Advance and Royalties Fund.

The Witter Bynner Foundation is dedicated to promoting poetry in American culture and seeks to expand awareness of the positive effects of poetry on society. Their support is a bulwark of our works in translation.

Centrum is an arts organization in Port Townsend, Washington. They host world-class events like the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, the Acoustic Blues Festival, and an annual Writer’s Conference.

Community of Literary Magazines and Presses [CLMP] ensures a vibrant, diverse literary landscape by helping small literary publishers work better. 

Ingram/Consortium Book Sales and Distribution is our beloved distributor. If you ever find a Copper Canyon book in a bookstore, they were the people behind making that happen.

4CULTURE provides funding and support for the cultural work that makes King County Washington vibrant.

Hawthornden Foundation is a private charitable foundation supporting contemporary writers and the literary arts.

Humanities Washington is a foundation dedicated to sharing the ideas and stories of Washingtonians.

Lannan Foundation is a rare family foundation that supports the literary arts. At Copper Canyon, they fund the Lannan Literary Selections, as well as other special projects.

National Endowment for the Arts is a stalwart annual supporter of Copper Canyon Press through their Grants for Arts Projects program.

Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry magazine, is an independent literary organization committed to a vigorous presence for poetry in our culture. It exists to discover and celebrate the best poetry and to place it before the largest possible audience.
