Denise Levertov

Denise Levertov was a British-born American poet. Born in 1923, she served as a nurse during WWII, but eventually moved to the United States after marrying her American husband. Influenced greatly by Transcendental and Modernist writers, her career took off and she published regularly and to much acclaim until she died in 1997.
