Charles Simic

Charles Simic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and emigrated to the United States in 1954. He has published over thirty books of poetry both in the United States and abroad, including The World Doesn’t End, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Simic served as Poet Laureate from 2007 to 2008. He is Emeritus Professor of the University of New Hampshire, where he has taught since 1973.
