Geoffrey Brock

Geoffrey Brock is the translator of Disaffections: Complete Poems 1930-1950 by Cesare Pavese which was selected as a "Book of the Year" by The Los Angeles Times. Brock garnered awards for his work such as the PEN Center USA Literary Award for Translation, Translation Prize from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Modern Language Association's Lois Roth Award for Translation of Literary Work. Brock chose the starting date as 1930 for this collection because it is in that year that Pavese began to discover what he called il ritmo del mio fantasticare—"the rhythm of my imagination." Brock is also the translator of Robert Calasso's K., Umberto Eco's The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana, and Antonia Arslan's Skylark Farm. Weighing Light, his first collection, was published in 2005.
