James McCorkle

James McCorkle was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, and now lives in Geneva, New York, with his wife and two young daughters. He is a graduate of Hobart College and received his MFA and PhD from the University of Iowa. He has had fellowships from the Ingram Merrill Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts; he also received the Campbell Corner Poetry Prize from Sarah Lawrence College. He is the editor of Conversant Essays: Contemporary Poets on Poetry (Wayne State University Press, 1990), and the author of Still Performance: Writing, Self, and Interconnection in Five Postmodern American Poets (University Press of Virginia, 1989), a study of postmodern poetry. He has taught at Pratt Institute, Keuka College, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
